Anxiety can make us feel worried, stressed, or nervous, and it’s something we all experience from time to time. When anxiety hits, you don’t always need medicine to feel better. Acupressure is a natural and easy way to calm yourself down. It’s something you can do on your own, whenever you need a little relief.
What is Acupressure?
Acupressure is like giving yourself a gentle massage on certain spots of your body. These spots, called acupoints, help release tension and stress when you press on them. By doing this, you can help your body and mind relax. It’s a simple, safe, and natural way to ease anxiety.
Important Acupressure Points for Anxiety
- Inner Gate (PC-6): This point is on the inside of your arm, just below your wrist, about three fingers down. Pressing here can help calm your mind and even ease nausea. Use your thumb to gently press this spot for about a minute on each arm.
- Spirit Gate (HT-7): This point is located on the inside of your wrist, just below your little finger. It’s known to help you feel more relaxed and can even help you sleep better. Gently press this spot with your thumb for about a minute on each wrist.
- Union Valley (LI-4): You’ll find this point between your thumb and index finger. It’s great for reducing stress and tension, which often come with anxiety. Press the soft spot between your thumb and first finger for about 30 seconds to a minute on each hand.
- Third Eye (Yintang): This point is right between your eyebrows. Pressing here can help clear your mind and reduce feelings of worry. Gently press this spot with your finger for about a minute.
- Heavenly Pillar (B10): These points are at the base of your skull, on either side of your neck. Pressing here can help release tension and ease anxiety. Use your thumbs to press these spots firmly for about a minute.
